Discover the Rewards of Mentoring or Tutoring

You'd be surprised by the difference just a little of your time can make when you volunteer to spend it with a child. Even everyday things, which may seem like no big deal to you, can make a world of difference from the student's perspective.

Whatever your skills, talents, or interests, CYC has a variety of rewarding ways for you to get involved. Our many volunteers come from all walks of life. The only requirement is your desire to help a student reach his or her goals.

Volunteer your time in any of the following CYC programs:

One-to-one Mentoring:

Are you looking to provide encouragement, guidance, and help with schoolwork to an enthusiastic student on a one-on-one basis? As a one-to-one mentor, you'll choose activities you both want to do based on mutual interests (such as sports or cooking), and introduce your student to new experiences. Most activities take place out in the community. You could end up learning a little about yourself in the process.

Group Mentoring:

This program offers exceptional flexibility. A team of mentors shares the responsibility of meeting with a group of boys or girls after school on a regular basis. Perfect for anyone whose schedule can be a little unpredictable!

Tutoring:

Adult tutors meet with a student once a week to help students improve academically in one or more subject areas. No experience necessary.

College Resource Center:

Not sure you can commit to weekly meetings? Give your time to the College Resource Center, a multipurpose resource center for students seeking further education after high school. The center is open to the public and is available to students, parents, and counselors in the Greater Cincinnati area. Any amount of time you can give is welcome!

AmeriCorps:

Volunteer on an episodic basis with the AmeriCorps members and students. If you have a skill or talent that you believe may be useful to students seeking postsecondary education, we can use your time and energy.

Friends of CYC:

Can't commit to too many hours but want to be there when it counts? CYC often needs help in preparing for activities such as our annual fund-raising gala or student outings. The time commitment is minimal yet helps tremendously.

Share Your Specialty:

Take a single day and share your expertise with our volunteers and CYC staff. If you're an expert in a field related to the programs CYC provides (such as youth development) please consider volunteering to host a training session.
